Happy Single Awareness Day!

Lol! That was a term coined by a friend of mine in 9th grade, and I've used it every year since. ;) I think that all single people should walk around in black on February 14th. Then at least we'd know who's available and who's not. ;) lol Or at the very least, we'd know who's really in need of some chocolate...

Of course, I'm just kidding. ;) I'm actually not disturbed by my single status this year. Probably because I've been too busy to think about it. No, seriously. How can you worry about flowers and cards when you're studying for exams? Or bewailing the absence of caffeinated coffee? Yes, I'm afraid it's true. This morning I woke up so terribly grouchy that my family had to keep their distance for a good three hours until I managed to get over my withdrawals. ;) I don't know how they stand me sometimes...

Hope you guys had a good Valentines Day! And to all you single girls out there, don't spend today pondering Prince Charming.  Romance is fleeting, but chocolate and sappy flicks will endure forever! :) lol

XOXOXOXOXOX

My Monkey Mia

Oh, this ADORABLE LITTLE GIRL!!!! I WANT TO EAT HER!!!!

The things this child says and does. Today, for example, she informed my mom that she wanted to be a queen...with a "cwown" (crown)...and a scepter...and that she wanted to live in a castle and sit on a big chair and eat lots of candy and have lots of "mon-ey."

"Mia queen," she said excitedly, "Yes-ee please. Thank you so much!"

Yeah. My mom quickly knocked that notion out of her head...but only after laughing hysterically. ;)

Or yesterday, when we took my brothers shopping. No sooner did we walk though the entrance, Mia pulls on my mom's hand and says, "Mama, where is little girl's clothes?"

WHERE IS LITTLE GIRL'S CLOTHES?!?!?!
(Can you tell my sister has a serious, and so far incurable, case of shopping fever? Even I wasn't that bad at her age--and I was by no means a tomboy.)

A few days ago, my mom walked into Mia's bedroom and found her sitting up in bed looking like this:

She had braided her own hair! If there weren't so many of them, I might say she actually did a good job! :P

I call her my little monkey because when I go to pick her up, she wraps her legs around me like a spider and holds onto my waist for dear life. :) That and she likes the monkey Zephir from the Babar books. She will stick to you until you pry her off!

Here's a video of her blowing up balloons...or at least attempting to.

Pretty funny, eh? I wonder how many more antics I'll have to report before she's grown. Probably enough to fill a a whole book. She's already a celebrity at our favorite grocery stores. My mom says she has a whole entourage of cashiers who assemble to greet her. *rolls eyes* That's what you get when you're the life of the party.

Hope you guys are enjoying your evening!

You Know You're in College When...

1) Coffee is your best friend...
2) Your favorite part of the day is going to sleep...
3) You sacrifice dessert to play the piano...
4) You read school assignments during your work break...
5) The thought of getting together with friends makes you want to cry for joy...
6) You work out at 10 o'clock at night...
7) Sunday night rolls around and you wish it was already Monday (why prolong the torture?)...
8) You read while you're brushing your teeth...
9) You neglect your blog for nearly two months!
10) You almost forget to buy your brother a birthday gift!
11) You haven't answered emails in three weeks!
12) You wish you're eye lids were glued shut!
13) You eat lunch as you're driving (mom, don't read that!)...
14) You seriously consider burning every book you own!
15) You want to sit in a chair--and do nothing...
16) The slightest hint of a deadline makes your blood curdle...
17) The thought of NOT doing school for the remainder of your life keeps you up at night...
18) You'd rather do laundry than write another paper (I loathe doing laundry)...
19) You count how many more units you have left before you graduate--every. single. day. (as if the number's somehow changed since the night before?)
20) You feel like banishing every professor to a little island in the middle of the Pacific where they can lecture, grade, and torture each other!

If you've ever felt/done/thought one or more of the aforementioned things on this list, you are probably one step away from going insane. My condolences. I know how it feels. :D

Happy studying!

A Little Austrian Reuinion

A couple of days back, a friend of mine from Hungary (one of the guys I met in Austria) emailed to say that he was visiting California. We decided to meet a mutual friend for a trip to Malibu/Santa Monica. Here are some pictures from our adventures.
Kelsie and Joci taking advantage of the scenery...

Time for a photo-op...
Wanna-be star...
Breath-taking sunset...

Overall, it was a great day: laughing, eating trailmix, recalling old times, sneaking onto a movie set, getting a parking ticket, trying to mimic the idiot Tarzans at Muscle Beach...highly entertaining, by the way.

Thanks, guys, for an awesome day of fun and memories! So blessed to know you, and so grateful to live in sunny So Cal!
