Day 1

So my Insanity workout package arrived this morning. Joe and I started this afternoon and surprise surprise...we died. :)

Literally. Died.

Today was only the fitness test. Now, I won't pretend I'm the strongest, most physically fit person in the world, but I'd say I've got some descent biceps on me...for a girl. ;) After all, I'm a busser. I clean tables, lift heavy trays for 5 hours, run back and forth, carry cases of glasses and dirty dishes, transport 5 gallon boxes of soda from storage to the draft units...I lift more than most of the other bussers at my work, and I've developed a bit of a reputation amongst my coworkers. A lot of good it did me! After the warm up, Joe (who is fit and already has a six pack) and I were both on our knees, huffing and puffing, panting, grunting, groaning, and dripping sweat like it was 120 degrees. I'm sure our neighbors thought we were in agony. We were.

In between breathes, both of us looked at each other and said, "I've never worked out this hard in my life."

That's for sure. I've been on the verge of vomiting for the last half hour. My body's like, "What are you doing to me?" lol
I swear those thirteen steps to my bedroom have never been harder to climb. But hey! I did it.

Day 2 here I come! I'll keep you guys posted. :)

An excited and totally INSANE,

I Have Time To Write A Post Today!

Goodness! Hard to believe it's been almost a month since my last post. I know I say that every time, but honestly, it never gets old for me. I keep trying to think what has been so all-consuming of late that I  haven't had a moment's peace to write. The answer? Nothing you haven't heard before. ;)

Yes, there's school and yes, that alone takes up 75% of my time. Add to that a job that has me working 5-6 days a week, church, family life, a barely existent social life, and now a new movie production with Joe...it's a lot. And I don't always have the energy to do it all. But God is faithful, and He equips me with what I need when I need it--and not a moment too soon. ;) Like I've written in previous posts, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the enormity of life and all that goes on in it.  You just have to keep reminding yourself: "baby steps conquer mountains."

But today is different. Today, I actually feel on top of my game. Like I can breathe! *inhales* *exhales* It feels so good to be able to look out at the sky and see what a gorgeous shade of blue it is! Makes me smile. Anyway, so here's a little recap of what's been going on:

1) I ordered the Insanity Fitness program! Yahoo! It should be arriving in the mail any time now, and I can't wait to start. Even though I've always been into exercising, I feel like I'm starting to slack off on the whole workout thing. :( Yeah, life is just that busy, but that's not an excuse. Although I'm staying decently fit with bussing, I've noticed my arms are starting to  bulk up rather than tone up. I'm hoping this will help me develop some lean muscle--and finally give me the abs I've been (or was) so desperately trying for! lol :) Looking forward to my 60 day body transformation! I'll be sure to post pictures--modest ones, anyway. lol

2) Exams are in full swing, although I only have two this semester. The other classes decided to save up all my stress for the last two weeks when I can write term papers. Oh, joy! I think I've got some good ideas. My Shakespearian/Wildian thesis is going well--all I have to do is write the dumb play--and I just finished the outline for my F. Scott Fitzgerald analysis. Should be interesting. Although I was trained to write succinctly, college professors seem to love wordy papers. So that's what I give them--papers full of intelligent-sounding, repetitious sentences that say the same thing in different ways. And somehow they always give me an A. ;) lol

3) Joe, Nick, some friends, and I are now working on our latest movie. An Edgar Allan Poe remake of Premature Burial. And yes, it's exactly like what it sounds. ;) The boys and I spent the better part of Monday night shopping at Goodwill stores for era-appropriate costumes. Considering we spent less than $50, I'd say we did a pretty good job. (I'd put a picture of Joe, but he still needs to spray paint his bowl hat and cane!) We're still waiting on wood for the coffin, but yeah--it's going to be super cool. Especially since Joe's decided to go all out on this one. I get to play the ghost. ;)

4) Piano recital on Saturday! Even though I've officially graduated, my teacher and I couldn't bear the thought of not continuing. She's been my teacher since I was 5 years old. ;) So in between her having a baby and my insane work schedule, both of us--exhausted and sleep-deprived--managed to squeeze in a few practice sessions. Last year, we did a duet of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Maybe I'll post the video one of these days. This year, we're performing Ernesto Lucona's Malaguena. I think that's how you spell it. ;) Anyway, should be fun.

5) Branching off into the unknown. For as long as I've been alive, I've always gone to the same church as my parents. Unfortunately, with my work schedule being what it is, I'm no longer able to attend service on Sunday. So, I'm going with friends to a new church, one a little closer to home and with a service time that is more conducive to my work and sleep schedules. You would think by now, I'd be old enough to get by on a few hours each night. Nope. If I go more than a few days without minimum 6-7 hours of sleep, I get cranky. ;) Last Saturday, I slept in until 10:30AM!!!! That's definitely a record. Granted, I got home from work at 11:30, went to bed at 12:30 and had been up the night before until 2am, and the night before that until 1am, but that's beside the point. ;) And no, I don't take naps!

6) Saw the Avengers last week. Dare I say, I actually enjoyed it. ;) Seriously. It was the best superhero movie I've seen yet! And that's saying a lot 'cuz I really like Christopher Reeves in the old Superman! lol People always ask who my favorite character is. Honestly, I have no idea. I have the biggest crush on Captain America, but I absolutely ADORE Iron Man's sense of humor (Robert Downey Jr. most recently made it onto my list of favorite actors!). And to top it off, the night after the showing, I kept dreaming about the Incredible Hulk. So it's all up for grabs. ;)

7) On a more serious note, I came across a Scripture last week that really spoke to me. Ezekiel 22:30. "So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one." This verse totally convicted me. Being as politically minded as I am, I'm so ashamed that I have not done more to intercede on this nation's behalf. As Abraham did for Sodom and Gomorrah, my prayer is, "Lord, for the remnant here who still love you, have mercy." I know that God's judgement is inevitable, but I realize all the more clearly now my role as a Christian. Major conviction  here. I would encourage you to take this Scripture to heart. We may not be able or gifted enough to debate legislation on the Senate floor or in the House of Representatives, but we can drop to our knees every day and begin building that wall, mending the gap.

Hope you guys are having a great day!
Stay strong for the hope that is within you!
